The police K9 is an important aspect of policing tactics. The K9 officer is utilized for many diverse types of situations. Police K-9 officers are utilized for much more than just the apprehension of fleeing criminals.
K-9’s were used in many areas which ensured the safety of our officers and the public. The K9 is utilized for: Drug detection; Vehicle searches; Working with the school and drug deterrence programs; Building searches; Tracking and searching for lost individuals; Tracking and apprehension of criminal suspects; Officer protection; Evidence search and recovery; and Support for EMS and the fire department.
