But it takes more than a great team of skilled police officers to keep our communities safe. Behind the scenes, there is a dedicated team of sworn and civilian employees who make sure the vehicles are serviced, the bulletproof vests fit, the computer databases work properly and the latest information is made available.
The Administrative Services of the Beckley Police Department is comprised of specialized units with personnel who are experts in computer technology, planning, law, records management and court processes.
We have officers assigned to oversee: yearly training; field training officers; firearm qualifications; policy and procedure updates; domestic violence enforcement; highway safety coordination; computer information systems; supervision of civilian personnel; and many, many more specialized duties that are necessary for daily operations.
The Support Services Division must also use strategic methods in order to accomplish the goals and objectives for the Department. These may be in the form of training goals, personnel efficiency goals or technological goals. No matter what the area, our support staff must have insight as to the direction the Department is advancing. Support Services allow line officers to perform their daily duties in the field, without worry of how to store, relocate and determine critical information. This staff also provides the direction that determines how jobs are performed.
